My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I’ve trekked across remote glaciers deep within the Arctic Circle, I’ve trailed though the world’s oldest rainforest in Borneo, I’ve climbed North Africa’s highest peak and I’ve dived in some of the most spectacular ecosystems on the planet. On each one of these expeditions my camera has been an essential part of my kit enabling me to document every moment, every memory.
Out of all of the places I’ve explored, I found Svalbard – located deep within the Arctic Circle – to be one of the most intriguing, hostile and unique places in the world that I’ve ever seen. There is a sense of nervousness being so isolated in such an inhospitable environment and the feeling of humility is quite overwhelming. To be able to capture some of this spectacular scenery and wildlife on camera is a personal privilege and then to be able to share these images with others is truly rewarding.
I love taking photographs but I’m no expert so it would be fantastic to get guidance and advice from the renowned photographer, Jason Edwards. This scholarship would hopefully give me the opportunity to turn my hobby into a career and continue my polar adventures in Greenland.
