My photo story is about my grandmother, whom I have never known or met. My mother was orphaned in rural Laos during the Second Indochina War. She was six years old at the time, and she has never been back. Decades after my mother lost contact with her grandmother, I journeyed to rural Laos - alone. Armed with three photos of my grandmother and a burning desire to discover at least something about my family history, I traveled to the village where my mother was born.
