A Life of Wanderlusting

My Scholarship entry - Scenes of Nepal

Nepal | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

I tell people I suffer from chronic wanderlust. I love to explore new places, challenge myself to do new and unexpected things and immerse myself in cultures vastly different to my own. I'm learning to see the world around me, rather than just walking past it. I love people watching and find it remarkable that human behaviour, despite language and cultural differences maintains universally similar patterns; working to pay the bills, searching for faith and seeking love.
The more I travel, the more I see and the more I experience, the more I feel like I have so much more to learn about the world. Travelling has ignited an insatiable appetite within me to learn new things, to see as much as I can, to share my stories with people like my grandparents who have never been past the state borders but love to see the world as I see it through my pictures.
With this scholarship, I hope to increase my observation skills and learn how to meaningfully capture a “moment” in time. To be able to isolate the busyness of a scene and focus on one powerful image that tells a story of its own.
I'm learning to talk less, listen more, be open to possibilities and be grateful for experience.
