My Scholarship entry - Luck, Faith, and Persistent Passion

Over the last decade, travel and photography has become a passion and hobby of mine. My "day job" is being a social worker working for a non-profit organization in Chicago focusing on cancer prevention policies. I often wonder how I can make my dreams a reality and I'm always thinking and planning my next adventure. I often think I'm not cut out for the 9-5 type of job. But rather traveling through a country taking in/capturing its beauty, landscape and meeting amazing people is an idea that brings tremendous happiness to me. To me, that is living out my dreams. I feel that I have a good "eye" in my photography so far, but I have so much to learn on the technical side. The opportunity to learn from Jason Edwards would be an incredible opportunity. I am trying to figure out if I can make the leap from photography as my hobby into something that pays the bills. There is no better opportunity than to experience the world by capturing it in person and being able to record it for others to see. Allowing me this opportunity would truly give me that leap that I'm looking for right now in my career.
