My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
South Korea | Monday, July 8, 2013 | 5 photos
The harshness of the camera is something I still feel and I stop myself from taking certain pictures or wielding my camera at certain occasions for fear of being invasive, I would like to learn to overcome that and let the camera become part of a dialogue connecting people to stories and places. Learning more about capturing moments, with hands-on experience, would go an incredibly long way for me as a photographer and as a person who is interested in seeing and sharing more about the world. My photographs don’t get the ‘ooo-s and aah-s’ I would really like them to. That makes me feel as though I have let the entire process down. I've found that travelling and photography do the same thing by moving us into new spaces and allowing us to see the world from new points of view. And a photograph allows a lasting experience to be shared. I would like to take the type of photos where the subject is seen for what it is and for its represented awe to come through, and in doing so, do both the photographed and the photo justice. The chance to learn about photography as a travelling art form with Jason Edwards in Greenland is an opportunity I would seize whole-heartedly. Thank you!
