My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I think in pictures. And pictures speak instantly to my core.
Since completing a PhD in science I’ve contemplated my future direction. I have a deep-seated desire for exploring the world and a passion for communicating experience that is outside my (and others) usual sphere of life. I’ve volunteered as a researcher for a documentary company, but photos are complexity within simplicity, easily accessible. I strive for images that drag the eye in, tell a story, ignite imagination, awaken genuine feeling and do so instantly.
Adventure-Discovery-Sharing-Continual Learning are my life. So the photographic mentorship would be invaluable in setting out on my future trail. I want to capture and share photos that make people Stop…Think…Ask…Where is that? What is that? What’s happening there? How did that come to be? How can I learn more?
My simple camera has travelled with me in the heat of Thailand and Africa. The Greenland scholarship would be a perfect counterpoint, developing my skills yet also taking me outside my sphere of experience- doing for me EXACTLY what I hope to do for others, through photojournalism. It will expand my thoughts, which is perfect because…I think in pictures.
