My Scholarship entry - Pleasures Known Only to Ourselves
Kamillia here!! I was born and raised in the capital of Big Orange Country (Knoxville, TN) and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Global Politics and Economic. Following graduation, I decided to venture out as a vagabond for a year! I have a heart for simplicity and family always comes first! I have a passion for exploring the unknown and sharing that unknown with others. I have found my way in doing so through photography. Thus, a photograph is where my greatest passions, travel and photography, meet and tell the story not only of my journey, but also the story of my documented subjects. My experience of a particular time and space is what I hope to share with the world and is my reasoning for applying to this scholarship. I simply want to share with others the things they cannot experience on their own. I have never studied photography, but have owned a camera for as long as I can remember. I have always taken pictures as a way of sharing a story and I can only wish to be able to do this on a larger scale - from education on photography, to reaching a larger audience to share my story with and eventually being a mentor to those like myself.
