My Scholarship entry - Tahiti up close

My true passion has always been travel and exploration. I'm fortunate enough to have a love for photography, which allows me to share my experiences and vision with the rest of the world. When I visit a new country, I'm not as interested in seeing museums or seeing sights, my favorite activity is to interact with the locals and learn how they live. The most memorable part of a journey for me is always the connections that I had with people along the way, and to include a portrait of them in a photo series adds to the story immensely. I not only like to show the beautiful landscape of the geography or urbanization, but as well those who live among them day in and day out.
I believe I should be chosen because I would create a well-rounded report of my assignment and give the viewer the feeling like they have been there. One of my best qualities is my ability to connect with others even when there is very little in common, thus making them feel comfortable in front of the lens. I love to shoot at 35mm, thus bringing the viewer into conversation with the subject. Combine this with my knowledge of the Earth and shooting landscapes, and the result is a thoroughly captured adventure.
