My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I believe I am the best candidate for this scholarship because I am an explorer. By that I do not mean that I summit unclimbed peaks or peer through lenses into science unknown. When I call myself an explorer, I mean that I see with eyes open to the nuance of the moment, and intentionally take the path less traveled; if I go where everyone does, in the conventional manner, I will see what everyone already has, and teach only what is already known. In turn, my deepest joy is showing others something new I have found. In this, photography is my poetry, passion and paintbrush.
If music is the language of emotion, then photography is the bridge between emotion and reason, a link of heart and mind. By exercising the art of photography appropriately, it is possible - in an instant - to communicate delicate nuance, thundering force and learn to wonder again.
If properly trained, I know I can capture the profound essence of a place, an issue, a moment. If you give me the chance, I will.
