Journey to Mt Everest

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

1p ) This photo of a market seller was taken in the little town of Themal, Kathmandu Nepal. I sat in the hustle and bustle of the marketplace, with everyone coming and going, watching this man with a never ending smile.
2p) This photo was taken in Kathmandu on my way back to the Yak and Yeti Hotel. A man was begging on a stairwell to a bridge. He put his hand out for some money and as I put my hand in to my pocket I pointed to my camera. With a nod of his head he gave me permission to take a photo in exchange for money.
3p) On the trail to Mt Everest a mother and her two children are making the trek home after carrying down a load of food to sell. They are dirty and tired. The boy is no older than 10 but he doesnt complain.
4p) I am sitting in a teahouse, suffering from altitude sickness and the hardships of the journey so far. I have a great admiration for the Sherpa people who walk these trails daily and always with a smile on their faces.
5p) The end of my journey. Mt Everest Base Camp. I feel triumphant and humbled. What an experience.

I am a very goal-oriented person. I have a goals list that I carry with me everywhere. I have ticked many things off that list over the years such as owning a home, visiting America, and of course undertaking the trek to Everest Base Camp. I have many goals left to fulfil and I really dont think I will ever be done, I am always adding new challenges to tackle. I have always been interested in photography and have taught myself a lot about the subject however I have recently become a student of photography at tafe and am hoping to eventually achieve my Diploma in the subject. My ultimate goal is to be a Photographer and travel the world, sharing my knowledge and experience with whoever I can. Thankyou for this opportunity
