My Scholarship entry - The real South Africa ?
South Africa | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos
A burning curiosity was ignited the moment I was entrusted at six on a plateau to use my dads previously “forbidden to touch” camera. My hands shook with the power I sensed this instrument held. Unbeknown to me, this symbolic passing of the torch, would light up my life’s blueprint as a photographer.
Born in 1992 in South Africa, I'm a "democracy baby" with a curious and creative spirit. I’m an extrovert and introvert, a risk-taking tomboy with a passion for understanding cultures and their habitats. I was raised on "do what's right" and "right" might not be expedient or profitable but it will satisfy your soul.
I hope to educate and inspire others through depicting stories of frailty, wonder, chaos or tranquility. Growing up in the travel and conservation industry I know what goes into creating an image.I try to take an image as close to real thing. Im 100% committed. Being a dyslexic I'm an experiential learner. to me life is a classroom. I believe that it's is about collecting mentors who have the knowledge and wisdom about their chosen journeys, who believe that they not just teachers but awakeners. I’m a found-soul who loves to wonder.
Yours sincerely Jessica Moya MacLeod
