My Scholarship entry - By the Sea
United Kingdom | Saturday, November 22, 2014 | 5 photos
I have dreamt of becoming a National Geographic photographer since I was five years old. Sitting in my first grade art class is where I saw my first National Geographic magazine. On the cover there was a mother elephant and a baby elephant walking through the dust, Elephant Talk was the name of the story. At that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to do. This magazine sits next to my camera bag for inspiration. It creates that same energized excitement that I felt in first grade. I'm currently working towards my BFA in photography at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, CA. I'm a very active person and spend most of my time in nature, with camera in hand of course! Along with being a full-time student I also work at a yoga studio and teach art to children. Traveling has had a huge impact on my life. My family travels quite often and this has encouraged me to explore and photograph everything. This scholarship would not only help me advance in my college career and help strengthen my photography skills. It would set me down the path of a life long dream. My name is Jes, I love to photograph the unseen beauty and share this beauty with the world.
