My Scholarship entry - Rain emergence

Ecuador | Saturday, November 22, 2014 | flickr photos

Photography for me isn't looking, it’s feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures. I'm a major biology student in Ecuador, I have many interests but I try to converge all with conservation. I started taking photos because I adore orchids and it was the easiest way for me to start, then I jumped into something that captured the essence of diversity. I'm an amateur photographer without any formal training so far and every time I go out I learn something new and try to focus on other aspects that can be improved.

Winning this not only mean that I'll improve skills & abilities but also learn how to create awareness with a photo & a caption. Landscape image cuts across all political & national boundaries, it transcends the constraints of language & culture. I'm trying not to create photographs that viewers will look at and think "What a good photographer he is," or "Look what an interesting composition he can make" I want the first impact, and by far the most powerful impact, to be about an emotional, intellectual & moral reaction to what is happening. I want my presence to be transparent.
