I am Portuguese, Bulgarian and Brazilian so I grew up between different cultures and misconceptions of certain cultures. While travelling and meeting people from around the world, I realised that despite the globalised world we live in there is still a gap of inter-cultural awareness among young people like me.

However, while sharing photos from my travelling on Facebook, I grasped that those were having more influence on changing my friends' views than many articles I would post about cultural awareness. Soon enough I was taking pictures not only to illustrate my holidays but also to show the daily-life of the places where I was. I became passionate about photography and visual storytelling became my primary medium of communication.

Without any formal training so far, I have been filling this gap with my curiosity behind the lens. But the privilege to assist Jason on this assignment is my big opportunity to improve my photographic techniques and to immerse myself in the lifestyle of a photojournalist, which I believe will help me to fulfil my dream of becoming a professional photojournalist myself.

As an eager learner I await for this opportunity with great enthusiasm!
