My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

As law graduate I thought photography is irrelevant to me. Only about three years ago, I borrowed my brother’s camera for a trip to Sarawak. The visit was a life changing experience, where I witness the displacement of indigenous peoples from their land. Hence it is natural to take up camera and document the life of the communities, and since then there's no turning back.
I am fascinated by the achievement of photography at how it enables me to focus on the particulars and connect it with a big picture. As the person who holds the camera I am an outsider, but there is a purpose of being an outsider. So I have a clear uninterrupted view to see through my viewfinder to help those who can’t see the picture when they are standing inside the frame.
The photo of earth is a concept of photography which shows the interconnectedness ecosystems of the earth and humankind is aligned with my indigenous worldview. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. As I have no formal training in photography this scholarship is important to learn hands on from Jason. And the theme of the exposure is my kind of job as I often traveled to remote areas in Borneo and capture real and rough cases.
