Sungasui felt thirsty after carrying loads of firewood on his backs. The water was fresh from the unpolluted river of Papar, in Sabah, Borneo. A river which will be affected by the proposed Kaiduan Dam. If built will displace 1400 of indigenous Dusun from the ancestral land.

In the afternoon after school, the children went to the farm to collect firewood for stock. Its the main source of energy and important source of cooking fuel in Kg. Terian, one of the 9 village in Ulu Papar area situated in Sabah, Borneo. Everyone contribute to improve the household energy practices. As their parents always said, 'if lazy, stay hungry'.

This is their office, where the indigenous Dusun people work for their livelihood. Swidden farming is a traditional method of sustaining many families in this community. However, they were always blamed that their practices is unsustainable and causing environmental degradation. The truth is they have rich knowledge of the ecosystem in the area and their agricultural skills could prove very helpful in the safe, sustainable use of slash and burn agriculture. This is actually solution to climate change.
