My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Finland | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos

I am one of those several ordinary people among the 7 billions of us on this planet. I was born and brought up in a war-affected small village in the Northern Sri Lanka, Jaffna. Since my childhood, I had a passion towards nature and never forgot to appreciate whatever the mother nature offers. In 2008, I got a chance to do a doctoral studies in the UK, which gave me an opening to my travels and to the art of Photography. Since then, I have travelled almost half of the world, from North to South and East to West of this planet. However, there is only one place amazed me by its calm and beauty; in fact, I never thought that this place has so much to offer, regardless of harsh winter and a warm summer. Yes, it is Finland. A country known as wired by many, but not to me. I am in love with Finnish nature and the wild beauty. Since my adventure in the Finnish Lapland last winter, I wanted to spent more time in the Arctic and explore the unknown Arctic nature more. There won't be a better place than Greenland to explore the Arctic and I would be glad to explore and share my experiences in the Greenland if I am offered a place in this competition.
