My Scholarship entry - Welcome to the real story

One of the advantages that comes with ageing is knowing what your want. I am believing in dreaming and making your dreams as real as possible. After migrating to Australia from Germany in 1992 a steep learning curve needed to be mastered in cultural and linguistic difference. My husband had a car accident in 2001 and left me with 2 young boys. In all this time I never forgot my love for photography which was installed in me at a young age by my dad who was a keen photographer. I did a diploma in photography then a degree in graphic design and now I am doing the master in mental health / art therapy. Anglicare send me out to do a photographic assignment in the drought affected areas of Queensland in Australia to help support people who could be affected by mental health because of the circumstances. The visit to those communities in the outback opened my eyes ...again... and it is this what makes it worth getting up every morning work hard and contribute to society. When I have finished my studies I will be travelling and helping communities in need. This does not mean I don't need all the help and skills and support I can get.
Thank you .
Warm regards Birgit Kehr
