A woman and a child ask for money outside of the main entrance of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Even though Zócalo Square is considered the political, religious and historical center of Mexico, marginalization rates in the surrounding areas are extremely high. This is a place where all kinds of people meet.

A 'conchero' dancer is getting prepared for the ceremony he is about to perform. It is common to see street artists doing rituals based on Pre-Columbian beliefs outside the ruins of Templo Mayor.

The spacious courtyard of a colonial mansion located in República de Cuba Street is now used as a parking lot, clothes dryer and even as an oratory. When the city outgrew its original limits during the past century, a great number of constructions in downtown were abandoned or occupied by lower class people. It is still possible to feel the old glory of this building when you visit it.
