My Scholarship entry - Social and Environmental Justice
I am 21, I study International Relations and Religious Studies at the University of Denver, and I’m passionate about social justice and nature conservation. I consider myself very lucky to reside in “Colorful Colorado” and to be currently living in the dreamy country of India for 4 months. Casual photography has been a hobby of mine for years, but I’ve recently found that it’s something I see myself pursuing professionally. Ideally, I will be a photojournalist spreading awareness of environmental and social issues across the world.
This photography scholarship would provide me with a great starting point and basic skills needed in order to combine my desires for the future. I should be chosen because of my love for nature, people, and documenting these two things through photography. I want to teach and I want to be taught. I want to know and I want others to know about the problems unfolding in our world. Even if conclusive answers to these problems aren’t made, being confused on a higher level is essential to someday overcoming injustices against one another and against the Earth. Though there are problems, there are also answers, and I hope to help find them.
