My Scholarship entry - Pelea de toros

I recently returned from 6 months of travelling through South America, which was an irreplaceable experience. A week before embarking, I decided to buy myself an entry level DSLR and watched a few youtube videos to get my head around the basics. However, over the next 6 months I completely fell in love with photography, with capturing moments, people, and memories that help convey feeling and tell a story and was constantly researching to improve my technique. I was eventually inspired to start a blog about my travels to hone my storytelling skills which, to me, is what photography is all about, giving people a glimpse into the fantastic, the unknown. Nothing broadens the mind and opens the heart like travel, and to me photography is an incredibly powerful way to inspire and educate people as to the infinite variety of cultures and experiences that make up this world.

I have returned home with a burning desire to learn, practice and immerse myself in photography. Do I know where exactly photography is going to take me? No. But I do know it is something I absolutely must explore and nurture, and this scholarship represents in incredibly unique opportunity to do so.
