My Scholarship entry - People and Place
Cambodia | Monday, November 10, 2014 | flickr photos
In my time as a photographer I can be grateful for a good many things, none more so than the opportunity to travel and to experience. Over the last two years I have been able to work and live in Southeast Asia, Alaska, and - most recently - in Seattle, Washington. More importantly, I have been able to share some remarkable experiences with people whose friendship I will cherish forever. In my photography my goal is to inspire and to inform the viewer to create a greater sense of unity among people, cultures, ideals, and way of life. My work is intended to balance artistic composition with an accurate representation of reality. At the very least my photography can be taken as a glimpse into another life, another place, or another way of thinking. If chosen for this Travel Photography Scholarship, I hope to bring my skills with me to Peru to create images that convey a sense of time, place, people, and shared responsibility for a truly remarkable place. In addition, I hope to form new friendships and to continue to experience the world first hand, through my camera. My name is Alex Crook and I am a photographer.
