Travel Photography Scholarship 2012entry

Thailand | Thursday, November 15, 2012 | 5 photos

This is not much about myself, but more about the world I live in. It feeds me since I am a young boy, taking me from a place to another, like a blowing wind to exile. Thanks to my parents, I was raised nomadic. Changing cities, homes, friends, every couple of years. I had to be curious, being able to step in and talk, shorten distance between the others and me. I was born an observer. To learn and grow, constantly adapting. I have a need in connecting to people, situations and environments. As long I remember, I wanted to see by myself, discover and inform. I first wanted to be a journalist, using images and words to connect distant realities together. However I didn't want to follow the classic path of a journalism education, and I studied business and economy. I was 25 in 2005 when the wind of exile took me to Kenya, then Tanzania. Aside from my job, I started shooting photographs and writing in a blog. I have been exploring photography since then: taking a semester class for films&lab in Paris, flirting with autoportraits and art, going to exhibitions/conferences/festivals as much as I could. I want to be a professional reporter now: this scolarship is a fantastic opportunity.
