My Scholarship entry - A Thangka School in Manali

India | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

I was born and brought up in the lap of Himalayas traveling with my Dad in first 17 years of my life. These travels though limited to a certain region exposed me to different cultures and people. I started traveling solo – it started with a backpacking trip to Burma- frequently and widely as I became independent. And gradually, Traveling and Photography started feeding each other. Viewfinder became a conduit to observe and understand better. As time progressed, I wanted to do something more meaningful with my photographs and I started thinking in terms of stories, that’s when travel documentary started making a lot of sense to me. I tried to hone my skills through workshops with the likes of Tewfic-El-Sawy in the hope of making “meaningful” photographs. I love to experience & document traditional ways of living (for now a day job with Adobe pays my bills).I am working on a few self-defined projects to hopefully take my photography to the next level.

This scholarship provides me with a rare opportunity to work in the field with an accomplished photographer, exploring a new place and building stories – it would be a dream come true.
