My Scholarship entry - Asuntos del corazón (Affair of the heart)

My name is Chase Sullivan i am a student studying a Ba/BCom in Media, Marketing and International Business. I always had a hobby/appreciation for writing and photography at an amateur level. I have been very lucky to have traveled a lot, including trekking the Himalyahs in Nepal back in 2010 which opened my eyes to the joys that photography and travel can give. Last year i decided that i wanted to go to South America (Ecuador and Brazil) it was an amazing experience in which i volunteered in the Amazon for 2 weeks. The experience really developed me as an individual. Traveling alone i pursued my interests (writing and photography) that left me hungry to pursue passion fulltime over a more conventional job. Following this trip i began workign for a professional photographer (Ilan Wittenberg) marketing his exhibition. Even more than learning about the art of photography he encouraged me to pursue passion, as his story was that he was always interested in photography but never thought he could turn into a career then had a breakdown as an engineer in his 40s and turned back to photography and excelled. This scholarship/opportunity would be lifechanging for me to work with a mentor
