    At Sam Houston High School football is a major source of pride for the school which is rated academically unacceptable. Sam Houston is known as Football plays a major role in some of the lives of Sam Houston's young men, providing a distraction from the streets of the east side of San Antonio. In 2011 Sam Houston Hurricanes would make what seemed like their final run at the state championship, something the seniors who made up most of the varsity team had dream of since they were freshman.
