My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

In 2011 I went to live and study in Istanbul for a year. Whilst living in Istanbul I wanted to ‘capture’ the city as best I could, to show people back home what Istanbul was like. Wanting to portray Istanbul has lead to my love of photography. More recently I have travelled to Iceland and I was sure to bring my camera with me as I attempted to portray the country to others who had never been. I now take every opportunity to see and witness new places, experiences to share them and my camera is my best friend to help me do this
I think photography can inspire us to consider possibilities, challenge our perceptions, evoke in us a range of emotional reactions as well as prompting our thinking on different cultures and environments, whilst making us want to explore our world and look for experiences. I endeavor to capture different angles and perspectives in my photographs on a world which can literally be viewed from so many different angles
As to date whatever photographic skills I possess come from book instruction, I have never earned money from my photos, so the opportunity to learn from an expert in the field would be invaluable as I could possibly generate income from photos
