My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

My series of photos were taken during a trip of mine with some friends to climb Mount Kinabalu, located in Sabah, Malaysia. The weather was slightly unfavourable along the trip due to the rain and cold temperature which reached 6 to 7 degrees Celsius at the peak, with thick gloves, it was hard even to handle the camera, much more taking photos. But all that aside, it was an enjoyable and memorable experience.
On to a bit about myself. I first realized my interest in photography when taking photos of school events and happenings around me during high school, and found out that being able to capture those moments in history, and putting them into a photograph, is such a wonderful thing. From then, I moved on and started expanding this tiny interest into a hobby, getting myself my first camera 2 years ago.
Just recently, someone asked me “Why do you like photography?”. I personally never asked myself that question before. But after thinking for a while, I think that, it’s that feeling of capturing that something special, documenting it, and sharing it with everybody else, that makes me strive to take better and more photos.
Every photo is an experience, a learning process. Most importantly for me though, is the chance to go out there and shoot, and improve. I might not be the best photographer out there, but we’re only human, and that’s why I want to improve myself, in terms of my own being, my photography skills, or anything that is to be learned out there.
In the future, I hope to be one of the people out there, to capture the wonders and moments others aren’t capable of witnessing, that people take for granted, and telling the world about its story.
