My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
The photographs describe the different moods of the Indian State Jammu and Kashmir which I have visited recently. The First photograph portrays a Kashmiri Shikarawala (shikara is a small boat plying on Dal lake in Srinagar , wala - owner) offering Namaz (in the silhouette ) in the backdrop of Dal lake at evening time. The Second photograph is of a Kashmiri boy carrying woods on the way back to home from the Jungle which is his daily chores , taken on the upper slope of Pahelgam. The 3rd photo is of a man frying Kashmiri Kachuri (bread) in his little dingy shop. Fourth photograph is a stockpile of Woods cut from Willow Trees which is available in plenty in Kashmir , these woods are piled for seasoning and cut in the design of cricket bats (in the picture these stuffs are meant for making ).After the seasoning they will be transformed into willow bats. Bat making is a voluminous small scale industry in Kashmir. And the final picture was taken somewhere on the way to Sonmarg from Srinagar , this beautiful river flowing through the valley in the backdrop of Mountains forming a definite pattern. Jammu and Kashmir is All about such beautiful valleys and mountains and lovely people .
