Two Smokejumpers, en-route to a fire, sit patiently and watch the world go by through the opening they will soon depart through. The use of fixed-wing aircraft and parachutes allows for crews to be placed on fires in remote locations far more quickly than other methods; allowing for fires to be extinguished quickly and before they grow too rapidly.

Touching down amidst the muskeg and black spruce of Northern British Columbia. The parachutes used descend at approximately the same rate as jumping from atop a twelve foot ladder, or 20 feet per second. As such, dialing in the landing roll and landing in the right place is critical.
