My Scholarship entry - The best things in life aren't things
USA | Thursday, November 20, 2014 | 5 photos
I have wandered this earth for 29 years, sometimes with a blind fold over my eyes and sometimes with the same wide open. My name is Enrique and this is how I became who I am today.
I moved to the US when I was 15 years old. Along with three other siblings and two hard working parents. They worked and made sure we had everything we needed. They encouraged us to submerge ourselves with the new culture and learn the language. They pushed us to get a proper education and work for what we think is important. They taught us the value of ones hard work, and how easily it is to waste away your hard earned dollars in things that don't benefit you or enrich your character in any way.
Contrary to what you may be thinking, my parents never said "no" or "don't do that". They let us make mistakes, and they let us learn from them. This kind of education is something no college can offer you.
While in Seattle, I discovered an unparalleled love for photography and capturing time through my lens. This would be the perfect opportunity to continue learning and experiencing cultures, people, and our beautiful planet. This can also be a door to something great in order to give back.
