My Scholarship entry - Photo Scholarship 2014
My name is Austin Aviles and I am a student at VCU School of the Arts in Richmond Virginia pursuing a career in photography. Not too long ago I made the decision to apply all of my passion for nature, people, and travel towards learning and experiencing photography. I took the advice of my friends, family and teachers to go all out with my dreams and goals and found myself in what I felt was a challenging and encouraging environment for my photographic skills to grow. They saw my talent and potential and through their encouragement I realized the excitement I felt from photography was worthy of my investment. I chose photography out of my love for traveling to new places and the unique adventure each location created. I believe I should be chosen for this scholarship because of my will to listen and learn from experience. For me, winning this scholarship would certainly be a dream come true, to travel outside of the country I have lived all my life and experience the world I have been eager to explore. I am confident in my abilities as an artist, thinker, and problem solver and I will apply my skills and personality to the photographic medium to achieve something truely unique.
