My Scholarship entry - Aventura España
I am a Sophomore in college studying in Spain currently. Before leaving California a few months ago, I had never flown across an ocean, never been in a country where English is not spoken and US currency is not accepted, and certainly never been alone in a continent where no one even knew me. A little while later and here I am, a certified world traveler who has been all over Spain, Morocco, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Next up is a solo excursion to Turkey and Ukraine. The adventurous spirit in my soul has awaken and has no plans of settling down. I briefly considered pursuing photography as a career but I knew a day would come when I would associate my beloved camera with the monotony and stress of work. Thus, I decided to do something else with my life and keep photography as my sacred hobby. Without the pressure of shooting on deadlines and stress of client expectations, I believe my photography exemplifies the spirit of what drew fellow photographers to this art in the beginning. Capturing places and things with such care that an entire universe seems to exist within the confines of a 5x7 print.
