My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

A perceptive bond with spaces, and a love for travel that goes right down to my bones- these are my inheritance from a nomadic childhood. For over two decades, photography has been an obsession and an old friend– transporting me into a meditative vortex while I shoot and while I stare at the monitor hoping for one decent shot out of hundreds I snapped that day. I love the way a shot consists not only of what I include in the frame, but also what I omit, and the way my lens finds hidden beauty in the seemingly mundane. In merging my love for travel and photography, the deeper I immerse myself, the more inexhaustible my passion is.
As an ad-film director, I spend a lot of time manipulating images. That’s why I like to keep my hobby of photography pure and largely free of digital manipulation. Other things that float my boat - dogs, movies, playing tennis and guitar, and Nature - I revel in the silence, solitude and the song of the great outdoors. The scholarship would be an invaluable opportunity to hone my skills, indulge my passion, and embark on a journey in travel photography. To do so under the Mentorship of Jason Edwards, in pristine Greenland, sounds like an elusive dream.
