The Dance of the Jaguar

My Scholarship entry - Aztec Dancers

Mexico | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

My interest for photography started when I was very young, from the need of expressing my thoughts and how I was feeling at the time, my camera became a way to clear my mind and create something new. At 17 years old I traveled alone and since then became an exhaustive traveler and explorer, a nature seeker, and my camera has been my best companion and memory keeper.

In Mexico, I got the opportunity to visit an ethnic group living in the mountains, the Huicholes. A simple and humble but extremely rich in heart people. This visit changed my whole perception of the world and life, at this point I realized how important is to share such particular experiences with other people that don’t have access to it. From there on, the experience of having a camera became also an honor and a privilege, to be able to be the image messenger and see people's reactions and questions.

Visiting Peru will be a great source of inspiration, it will compliment my exploration process in a great way and working with an expert like Jason will help give a new perspective to my work. The wonderful experience of working with nature and wildlife in a photography assignment, for me, is a perfect combination.
