    [It's a hot summer's day and all I hear are screams.] Children are swimming farther out into the ocean than I ever dared to when I was their age. One has clambered up the rocks, soft skin on jagged earth's head, and braces himself for the leap into pure blue. Pain in the pause between breaths, but that is why they're having so much fun. Views[298] [Under fear and rivulets.] A self-portrait. Clasping the snorkel against lips, heartbeat thumping in my ears, the ocean uncurls like a lion waking from rest. I am barely under the surface of the underwater sky, staring down thirty feet till the sandy bottoms. I am petrified. Views[380] [Together we troop, we make it, we fall.] I was sitting in my kayak when I spotted Greek children cliff-diving - a common summer adventure in Santorini. The ocean is a contrast to the twisting distortion of a cliff in every way. I hear their sweet laughter from afar, and snap this photo just before the boy at the top plunges forward to be hugged by cool waters. Views[268] [Is there any life out there? In the sparkling sun of the ocean...] At the southernmost tip of Santorini, I watch two girls arrange rocks into the words 'Carpe Diem'. A couple minutes later and the words would have already been fully formed, but the moment is perfect; I am capturing the action. A girl sits above them, directing their movements, and the sun sparkles down over us, rippling fragments of light bobbing on the ocean's enthusiasm, urging us to seize the day. Views[259]
