My Scholarship entry - Common Ground

I am in my last year of a 4 year course studying Tv, Radio and New Media Broadcasting. 1o months ago I bought my first camera. I bought the camera for my college course. At the time, I had little interest in photography as I was never exposed to the art form. That day I got my camera I realised I knew nothing about this new 'toy', and little did I know it would my eyes and my ears. I spent endless nights researching every aspect of photography I could find. Within a week I had completely emerged myself into this camera. I hear people use the expression that, the camera helps them see better. However, I find the camera not only helps me see better, but hear, touch and feel better. In short, the camera took over all off my senses. I happily lost myself to my camera. I was no longer Aislinn Whelan. I was now functioning as a camera. Everything I heard, felt, saw or touch had to be portrayed through a photograph. It has been 10 months since I first bought my camera, and I hope that in 10 months time I will be writing a similar passage on my once in a life time experience to the Amazon shadowing a great photographer.
