More Varanasi

Everyday here in India is not just an adventure but really mentally exhausting.  It really feels like you are fighting off people who hassle you every minute of the time you are outside.  Apparently this city is better than others - which leaves me little to no hope at all.

As we get to know the people and the country it just seems to get harder.  I can't get used to the smell of garbage, urine and excriment (of people and animals).  The problem is that it is not just in one area or even a few - but EVERYWHERE.  I mean all over the place.  You can't get away from it.  Even resturants are dirty and smelly and dishes come to you still are with grime.

Saying no to someone - you nearly have to punch them in the face before they leave you alone.  Many people will just not stop annoying you to buy something.

Indeed it is true as the Indian's say "The hand has 5 fingers all of which are not the same" - we have indeed found people who are sweet and kind to us.  Especially those from the smaller villages, but ths seems rare to find the one diamond amoung the bad apples.

We did have another day of touring temples and taking 1 wonderful relaxing hour to ride the boat along the river.  Here you finally get to notice the wonderful array of colour for the city buildings as the quiet settles in and the fact you can now look up as you are not trying to avoid dung!

I tried having a look for a saree - but it was just so stressful (more than anyplace I have been) to deal with as many will lie to you about the fabrics and ofcourse lie SOOO much about the price.  I couldn't buy anything as I just didn't know what  I was getting.

2 days was enough for us.  In fact we really want to run away already.  I m already having visions of going home...

Ciao for now..
