Oct 6-7th 2009: SIHANOUKVILLE

“Sihanoukville is centered on a small peninsula jutting into the warm waters of the Gul of Thailand surrounded by several white sandy beaches and tiny offshore islands”

I would totally ignore the above description that was given to me before I got to this washed out, totally undeveloped but yet still not charming, thunderstorm-ridden town. What should have been beach time was more: sitting on the balcony looking out to the rains and being horrendously bitten. On a more positive note however, it meant I didn’t tan! Yay!

There really isn’t much to say about the few days that were spent in “washedoutville”. I ate some local fish- barracuda- which was lovely, got bitten by something nasty on the last night and had a crazy allergic reaction, and was offered a spliff/joint by a 60year old Australian man at 10 in the morning. Sadly it wasn’t in that order, else it might have been a welcome relief.

Interesting times!

Next stop, Chau Doc, Vietnam.
