An authentic Mexican experience: pulque and worms

Seek Experiences - Pulque and worms

MEXICO | Tuesday, 5 November 2013 | Views [921] | Scholarship Entry

I came back to my home country this summer, after having lived abroad for more than six years: two in India, and four in the US with interludes in France and England. During those six years I would return home one or two times a year, but only for short periods of time.

Now that I’m back for an undetermined amount of time I will make sure I explore Mexico as much as possible. I really want to get to know the country where I was born, and it was driven by this desire that I set out to learn more about pulque, a traditional Mexican drink whose production and consumption have both been on a steady decline for many years now. It is my firm belief that in order to save traditions such as pulque, the first step is informing people about them, showing them the valuable experiences they might be missing out.

My ambition as a filmmaker is continue filming interesting places, not just to show my family and friends, but rather, to make documentaries that reach broad audiences, whether it is on the Internet, on TV, or on the big screen. Winning the World Nomads Travel Scholarship will represent a major step forward toward fulfilling this ambition.
