Day 1- Zurich
We woke up nice and early, and got to the airport for a easy departure. Arrived in Zurich and picked up the car. Weather was a bit poo but we managed to find a carpark and then went for a walk around the city. Had a kebab and some juice, and had a nosey around the city. Saw so pretty clocks and buildings but there wasnt heaps to see. We took the car for a quick drive around the lake, then headed off to Lucerne.
Pulled up in Lucerne, and found our fab hostel. We got to the supermarket and had too much to eat and drink. Lisa and Steven had a paper ball throw off, and we had great chats out on the balcony. After too much food and drink we decided we had better go find something proper to eat. There was a food place just up the road, with lots of locals in it. We decided it was value for money so Lisa and I somehow got a 3 course meal- so a soup to start, then the main was schzintel, salad and fries and a sundae for dessert. Man o man I felt ill after that. We continued to drink and Chitty & Steven got friendly with the locals. I arm wrestle went down and had lotsa good chats with everyone...well with the people we could understand. Steven had horse for dinner and boy it was good, haha boy! So since we said 'value for money' night was the first night we were going to try and curb our expenses after that. And be 'on a budget'. Haha let's see!
Day 2- Lucerne
Got up had breaky, and then went for a walk around lake Lucerne to go into town. Had a nice walk around and check out the sights. We saw the chapel bridge 'Spreurbruke' bridge where they have designs all over the top of it.
The township was really lovely, with lots of really nice buildings and decorations. There was a nice cafe right by the river with pasteries all looking lovely. And then checked out the water churning through at the river.
When we were walking back we saw the couple at Starbucks that we used to hang with at the mount. Headed back to the car, and then drove off to Interlaken. It was a beautiful drive, the weather cleared and we could see the big mountains with the sheer cliffs.
Hostel in Interlaken was awesome, well the set up was. There was a nice outdoor area with picnic tables and the sun was out. So we pulled out the duty free and soaked up the sun. I went and played in the treehouse, which was lots of fun. That night we went and had Thai place for dinner. The hostel had a happy hour so we went and enjoyed that, then there was a club at hostel. Had a really good dance, and then crawled back to bed.
Day 3, 4 and 5 Interlaken
We were really hoping for a lovely day, but so such luck. No going up the Jungfrau. Didnt manage to have the best sleep, because my bed was basically in a roof space. So instead of the Jungfrau we went for a drive around the Jungfrau region, Chitty was a great driver. We went to Lautterbrunnen, which was a good lil township. Glad we didnt stay there because there wasnt a lot to do. There was a waterfall, and lots of water falling around the place. Had a good lunch at a restaurant within a hotel. Then headed to Grindelwald and drove right to the top. It was snowing like crazy, very cool!
By the time we got back to the hostel Nicole and co. had arrived so had a good night chilling with them as well. Enjoyed happy hour again and then headed to bed, after hanging with some of the american tourists at the hostel. Was another roudy hard to sleep night.
It was another rubbish day, so no going up the Jungfrau yet again :( so we just had to hang out. It was snowing like crazy so we went for a drive around the township. Chitty had a bit of fun with it, well it was a difficult drive. Decided it was a good idea to go and hang with Nicole and co. at the local Irish restaurant. I had a really nice salad, and was nice to have something healthy for a change. Played cards at the restaurant, was fun.
Day 6- Lausanne
Yet another average day, well was a bit better but the screens on the TV were actually really overcast. Anyway drive to Geneva we stopped off in Bern along the way. Was a great city actually. One of my favourites of Europe. There were lots of lovely bridges set along the river, and lovely buildings surrounding it. We pulled up- checked out the clock with its chimes, the statue of the ogre, the bridges and then the bears. Was really cute because there were 2 baby bears, a Mum and then separately in another place a daddy bear. Continued drive from Bern to Lausanne. It was a really hilly city, so had a little walk around again not a long to see there. It was kinda cool. Stayed in a cool hostel overlooking the river, and chilled out most of the time reading, playing on phones.
Day 7- Geneva
Last day in Switzerland, time to head off. Along the drive to Geneva we stopped at some beautiful spots along the lake. Paradise some of these spots, with a little jetty and a nice big piece of land. We went to Geneva with the intention to go to the Red Cross musuem or check out the UN building. Saw both, but didnt get to go inside. Well the Red Cross was apparently being renovated, so there went that idea. So had a lot of time to kill in Geneva but not alot to see. We drove around and then parked up, saw the big waterfall in the middle of lake. Walked around the city, nice but not lots of sights to see. Found a great pub with yet again an amazing feed to be had. Lovely meat with a salad.
Bit over the seeing the city so took the car back to the airport and just hung out there. Was a late flight so hung around for a long time, finally set off and was homeward bound.
