My Photo scholarship 2011 entry
Cambodia | Thursday, September 1, 2011 | 5 photos
My journey started with one image – a girl and a frame. One thought began to branch into many. ‘Frame’ what does it evoke in you? A material structure? A state of condition? or an action to ensure a desired outcome?
The power of a childs spirit no matter how masked is a light. A light that I am drawn in by and a light my camera captures. When I first arrived in Cambodia it was like my world turned black and white. Gone was the grey area. The luxuries of wealth sat on the doorstep of poverty. Then: Color – Children. From the bustling streets of Phnom Penh to the rice fields of Kampot Province, I found my color pot and started filling in.
The series of images I have chosen to present to you capture the essence of light these children hold. They also invite you to explore the imagery of subject linked to a western world referred to in each title.
My name is Victoria and I hold a spark inside me for what I truly desire, what truly makes me happy with no other means than the process of creating – photography.
I would love to plato my skills and submerge myself into a plethora of knowledge siding with Jason as my mentor. An opportunity I would be honored to receive for the beginnings of a fruitful future in photo taking.
I hope you enjoy my images – love and light is truth and the truth is you.
