Conquering life

Disconnect to Connect

It was dark when we entered the National Park. But it still made me feel, wow. I am here.

I was driving our white Kia. The one that barely got us up on the mountains. Not because we were running low on petrol or anything. No, because the engine was the smallest one. The cheapest one. But it got us there in the end and that's what matters.

We arrived to our destination. A hostel located in the middle of nowhere. A girl was sleeping in one of the beds when we found our room. She was gone in the morning when we woke up. The sound of distans chatter and birds singing was what woke us up. We couldn't understand why until we looked out the window.

Right before our eyes was the mountains! The magical, mysterious mountains. Blue skies as far as our eyes could see, with only a few white fluffy clouds. They only made the scenery even more beautiful.

We sat down for breakfast before starting out journey. Our plans didn't involve conquering the mountain. Snowdon. No, we planned to walk along the track for a while. Until we reached the second lake.

It took us a while to get there, even though it wasn't far away at all. But the countless stops, so that we could just stare at the views before us, took their time. We got the feeling of being untouchable, on top of the world! It was the most amazing feeling and it made me fall in love with mountains. It’s the reason why I’m going hiking this summer, but that’s a totally different story.

Of course my camera was with me all the time. But even though they say that a picture tells the story of a thousand words. In this case, it doesn't. There isn't enough words in the world to express the feelings that rushed through my body. And the best memories are the ones stored in the back of your mind, not forever captured on a piece of paper.

When we finally reached the lake, we pulled out our blankets and our books. In the beginning they stayed unopened. Because we were too busy talking and laughing. Enjoying life. We were completely disconnected from the world on those mountains. The signal simply couldn't reach us. Thank god for that. Because instead of being constantly attached to my phone, I was living life. I was feeling alive sitting there in the middle of nowhere. I was feeling alive sitting there surrounded by nature. Feeling wild and free. It made me realize that I need to disconnect to be able to connect.
