Okay, I'm going to gripe a bit now. I'm sitting here in the Luxembourg Gare right now. I am cold, hungry, and wet. Well, maybe not cold. That much at least would be easily rectified, as the waiting rooms here are quite warm. The other bits hold true though.
The train ride here from Liege was nice. The seats were comfy, the train was quiet, and the scenery was nice. Every once in awhile we'd pass through a tunnel and upon coming out of the tunnel, I'd look up and notice a castle perched on top of the mountain we'd just come through. I was unsuccessful in my attempts to take pictures of most of these though because the train moved out of position too quickly. As we neared the city of Luxembourg, it began to rain. I mean really rain. As the train pulled into the station, the rain was coming down sideways where the doors opened and the first claps of thunder could be heard. i dashed into the relative dryness of the main station building with the other passengers before heading out to find something to eat.
I got some sugar-encrusted waffles and some orange juice from a grocery near the station, intending to save both for later. I spent the next hour and a half looking for cheap food, and ended up sitting down in one cafe. When I tried to order though, the waitress told me they didn't serve food until much later, and directed me to a row of restaurants a couple of blocks away. The cheapest thing on everyone's menu though was 8€ escargot or lobster bisque, and I am not paying that much for six snails or a little bit of soup, not today.
Finally I ended up near the gare again, where I actually found a Thai restaurant with 8€ meals, complete with appetiyers! At this point though it was too late to sit down and eat and still be certain of catching my train. Instead, I headed back here, past the now closed grocery store, to sit in the gare and eat my sugar waffles. The train is about to leave now, so I'll wrap it up, and probably transfer these thoughts to a computer once I'm back in Bremen.
Yeah, I wasn't happy with the cafes, though the wait staffs' German was pretty good. The scenery was beautiful too, apart from the weather.
