After finishing my Carpentry apprenticeship in 2009, I left to travel Europe. Before I left I bought a Cannon G10. Soon after arriving in London I felt I needed to get out, so i bought a small tent and hiked the Welsh/English border on a track called Offa's Dyke. From this start I tramped along the Pennines and up to Northern Scotland. I went on to travel mainland Europe and Morocco in a van. This whole time I became more engrossed in photography. I love the magic moment when a photograph revels an honesty about yourself and the world. When a moment is captured and you know that this is the shot you want. I believe that one good shot can bridge cultural differences and remind us of our common Humanity. Since returning from overseas I enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Curtin University and have recently finished my first year. My main goal is to become a travel photographer and continue too pursue my passion for photography and adventure. This scholarship would be the ultimate kickstart for my Career and a wonderful chance to learn as much as I can from a professional.
Kind Regards, Jake Coghlan
