My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Typically when asked, “Tell me about yourself”, my standard response is always, “I'm a critical care nurse!” However, as of late, my identity has shifted and now I talk about being a photographer; one influenced by a nurse’s viewpoint of the world. Nursing has afforded me entry into the most intimate and tragic of human experiences. This, in turn, has made me more passionate about my need to be fearless and imaginative, to live life to the fullest, connect with and capture the “real” world in a way that inspires others to be amazed by life.
My passion drives me to travel often and explore new and old parts of my world using my camera. It gives me the “legitimacy” I need to venture forth, to document and share my experiences.
I dream often of being a photographer who tells untold stories, presenting a unique viewpoint on the familiar and unfamiliar, while sharing emotionally connected and opinionated work. A photographer who connects without reservation and with the passion and daring I use to approach my life in general. Winning this scholarship would provide me an exceptional opportunity to continue on in this journey and learn to become the storyteller I’ve always wanted to be.
