So, I'm heading out of here tomorrow (well, technically on the morning of the 31st) and I don't have too much to say, just a quick comment on Georgian drivers.
I don't completely understand wwhy it is necessary to drive like a complete maniac in this country. For example, I took a shared taxi back from Telavi this evening. For the two hour drive, I'm pretty sure the driver was overdriving his headlights for at LEAST an hour, possibly more. I mean, you might know the road really well, but that doesn't stop other things like, wandering cattle, other traffic accidents, cars passing other cars on blind corners. You know, regular stuff. It was a little scary, I tried to sleep or do anything to keep base fear away, it didn't totally work, but it helped.
On the plus side, I had a great dinner with a family today, AND, I didn't get drunk. They did NOT force enough alcohol on me to kill a horse. Apparently, it is normal for a Georgian male to drink anywhere from 2-8 litres of wine in a sitting, they just keep filling up their glasses and eventually, you run out of wine. I've heard stories of a full 12 litres, but I think there is a bit of fiction there. Back to me, yep, I have been sober for a full 24 hours. But, again, I'm flying to Ukraine pretty soon, so I guess that's going to change given that you can get hammered there just by breathing. Should be fun. I'm looking forward to the beaches in Feodosiia - I've never been but I think it'll be a great time!!!
Also, tomorrow will be my last day to complete the trifecta. Yep, I'm going to give it my best to hitch a ride in a fire truck. And not the sissy 'out to get doughnuts' fire truck but the 'on a way to a fire' fire truck. I don't know where I'll go, but I bet I'll get there fast. WHOOOO-HOOOO!!!! Alright, hope you're all well, I'll catch you later!!!
