My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

This photo story is about what drives me to travel the world and make pictures: meeting incredibly touching people and places and tirelessly trying to inspire the viewers towards open-mindedness, optimism and humanity. Trying to engage the public towards the preservation of environmental and cultural diversity.
As far as my photography is concerned, I have been seriously thinking about becoming a professional photographer for over a year. Since then I have been practicing almost every single day. But for that, I decided it was not enough to use my free time to hone my skills, and resigned from my well-paid consulting job to start living my dreams. As a first step, I went on a 12 months photographic journey on 3 continents, learning great life-lessons from (extra)ordinary people and documenting amazing places and cultures.
Being freshly back home, I live on my savings while trying to “go pro” in the field of documentary and humanitarian photography, but, especially as a self-taught photographer, I do need mentoring.
Best of all, I deeply resonate with Jason Edwards work ethics and goals. Therefore I realize that this scholarship is for me undoubtedly a once in a lifetime opportunity to get professional advice and insight into the industry. I am committed to do my very best to meet and exceed Jason’s expectations by learning and delivering.
Biologist by education and a nature lover, I'm also a trekker, used to live and shoot in the outdoors with minimal comfort. I greatly value qualitative and honest work.
I crave to discover, share and ultimately improve people lives, that is why I engaged in biomedical research. But today, my unalterable dream is to be able to sustain a life of travel and visual storytelling that powerfully conveys my vision.
