After a short rest around dusk, I went for a walk on the mud road alongside the canal which irrigates my uncle’s lands in our farms near Amritsar. I tried to capture the soft golden light spreading on the trees, unhurried movement of the cyclist and the feeling of calm and peacefulness in the landscape. Time of day : Dusk

En route on train to Punjab to visit Golden Temple, Amritsar I couldn’t resist leaning out of the running train to capture a co-traveller. His form hold on the metal bars, the intensity of his gaze against a speeding landscape reminds me of our journey towards something, someone, someplace.

Thousands of devotees of all ages, faiths and walks of life throng to the Golden Temple, Amritsar all through the day and night. A large majority of them stop a while to offer ‘seva(service) for preparation of the langar(community meal in togetherness) which is offered to devotees 24X7 with genuine pleasure.
The sight of hundreds of people working in unison, with humility and brotherhood is both humbling and inspiring. It’s certainly a unique feature of the Sikh religion.
