My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

National Geographic is the magazine and the documentaries that made most young children dream on the idea of travelling to unique destinations and capturing the sense of the place. Well, I could be no exception. I am a self taught enthusiastic amateur photographer. Travelling for me means getting to know people, different cultures and capturing through the lens my perspective of the place. <br/>Photography is a way of exploration and recording the world through my personal vision of things. In order someone to capture the sense of a place means tasting the food, listening to music, and communicating with the local people. Being a biologist and a nature lover has inevitably affected my perspective of a place and often seen in my photographs. I am trying to improve photographic techniques through reading but working on the field with a National Geographic photographer like Jason Edwards is the ideal way to learn and improve not only the technical aspect but also to find out new ways to express myself through photography. As worldnomad experts say photography should be in the field not in front of a computer.

Cape Verde is an archipelago

of 10 islands located almost

at the centre of Atlantic

Ocean. Fishing is an

important resource of the

local economy. Women are the

dominant figures in the

fishing markets both behind

and in front of the fishing

stalls.
